Firehouse Subs App Update: Insiders Program and Digital Gift Cards Arrive

The Firehouse Subs app has rolled out a new version that introduces a loyalty layer called Firehouse Subs Insiders. According to the App Store release notes, the program is designed for existing Firehouse Rewards members who want to go a step further.

Here’s what the update text points to: users can opt in to share feedback and take surveys, earning rewards points for their input. It’s a straightforward value exchange—your opinions for points. The program appears to be exclusive to Rewards members, meaning you’ll need to be in the loyalty system first before you can join.

The same update also mentions Digital Gift Card Payment Method as a new feature. That’s a practical addition. Previously, if you had a gift card, you might have needed to present it in-store or enter a code manually. Now it sounds like the app can handle it as a payment option directly within the ordering flow.

The release notes also list Bug Fixes and Design Improvements, which is the usual housekeeping language. No specifics on what bugs were squashed or which screens got a polish.

I’ll note that the Insiders program arrives at an interesting time. Back in 2023, Firehouse Subs devalued its Rewards program, raising point thresholds for subs and salads. A medium sub went from 8,000 to 12,000 points. That move frustrated some regulars. This new Insiders program could be a way to rebuild goodwill—or at least give members another path to earn points beyond just buying sandwiches.

The version change was detected on July 18, 2026, but as with most app updates, rollout may be staggered. If you don’t see the Insiders option yet, give it a few days.

One thing I’d like to see clarified: whether survey-earned points count toward the same reward tiers or if they’re tracked separately. The current release notes don’t say. That kind of detail usually surfaces once users start poking around inside the app.

For now, the takeaway is simple. If you’re a Firehouse Rewards member, check your app for an Insiders opt-in. If you’ve been sitting on a gift card balance, this update might make spending it a little smoother.
