Instacart: Get Food Delivery New Features & Updates

July 2026

A new version of Instacart rolled out on July 10, 2026, and the official release notes are characteristically vague. The App Store listing says the update includes "bug fixes and performance improvements" and that the team has "fixed a few underlying issues to give you the most seamless experience possible."

That's the official line. But there's more happening beneath the surface.

The most interesting change I've spotted in the candidate materials involves address accuracy. A YouTube analysis from Instacart's shopper community points to a new system that matches customer delivery addresses against the USPS address database. If this feature is indeed rolling out, customers would be able to update their listed delivery address to a USPS-suggested version. That means fewer "I'm at the building with no apartment number" moments for shoppers and fewer "where's my order?" calls for support.

This matters. Anyone who's ordered groceries to a new apartment or a slightly ambiguous street address knows the pain of the "driver is nearby" notification followed by a phone call asking for directions. Matching against USPS addresses won't solve every delivery headache, but it should cut down on the most common ones.

The Storefront documentation for partners shows Instacart has been steadily shipping platform-level improvements throughout 2025 and into 2026. The September 2025 release notes mention improved unit-of-measurement displays for item tiles. The January 2026 notes cover new discounting offer types. The April 2026 release continues the pattern of accessibility and stability work. These are backend and partner-facing changes, but they eventually filter down to the customer experience.

None of this is confirmed as part of today's specific update. The App Store text is boilerplate. The USPS address matching appears in a third-party video, not in official release notes. The platform documentation covers separate releases on different timelines.

Still, the pattern is clear. Instacart is investing in the fundamentals: getting addresses right, making item displays clearer, and giving shoppers better tools. The July update is likely a maintenance release that bundles several of these improvements together.

My take: the address matching feature, if it's live, is the kind of unglamorous fix that makes a real difference. Grocery delivery is a logistics game, and bad addresses are a persistent leak in the system. Plugging that leak matters more than any flashy new feature.

The app should update automatically. If you're a frequent Instacart user, keep an eye on whether your saved addresses look different or if the app prompts you to verify your location. That's the tell.
