Instagram’s standalone video editing app, Edits, has received a new update. The latest version introduces several changes to how users create and customize video content.

Video effects search is now available. Users can search for specific effects directly within the app, making it faster to find the right visual treatment without scrolling through the full library.

The update also brings adjustable intensity, timing, and style controls for effects. Users can fine-tune how an effect applies to their video clips, controlling how strong the effect looks, when it starts and stops, and what visual style it uses.

Multiple aspect ratios are now supported. Users can choose from different video dimensions, giving more flexibility for sharing content across various platforms and formats.

The update includes more video sizes and effects alongside the new search functionality. The expanded library gives users additional options for framing and styling their videos.

For creators who reuse the same clip across Reels, Stories, and other social formats, the aspect-ratio update is the most practical change. It reduces the amount of manual resizing needed before export and makes Edits more useful as a first-stop editing tool rather than a quick trim-and-post utility.

The effect controls also make the app better suited for detailed edits.
