Animation Throwdown: Epic CCG New Features & Updates

Replay Characters Without the Map Hassle

A new version of Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards has landed, and the changelog points to a handful of quality-of-life improvements that regular players will notice right away.

The headline change, according to the game’s social channels, is an improved post-battle flow in Adventure mode. Players can now replay the same character without needing to return to the Map screen. That’s a small shift that adds up fast when you’re grinding through levels. Previously, finishing a fight meant backing out, scrolling, and tapping back in. The new flow keeps you in the action.

The update also appears to include a new Pack Opening UX. The description is brief, but if you’ve spent any time opening card packs in this game, you know the animation can drag. A refresh there would be welcome.

Another change flagged in the update text: improved legibility of the featured collection’s rewards. This is one of those fixes that suggests the team is paying attention to how players actually scan the screen. If you’ve ever squinted at a reward icon and wondered what you were actually earning, this one’s for you.

I should note that the public sources for this update are limited to social media posts and the app store listing. The Google Cloud release notes and Android developer pages that appeared in the candidate list are unrelated to this game. So I’m working with what the developers put out, not a full internal changelog.

The version bump itself is confirmed. What’s less clear is whether these changes are rolling out server-side or require a fresh install. Given the nature of the improvements—especially the replay flow and pack UX—I’d expect a client update.

Animation Throwdown has been around long enough that its core audience knows the rhythms. A grind-friendly tweak like skipping the map return is the kind of thing veteran players will appreciate more than any new card release. It respects your time.

If you’ve been putting off that Adventure run, this might be the nudge you need.
