Barcode Scanning Now Available

The Swagbucks app for Android has received an update that adds the ability to scan item barcodes to earn rewards on everyday purchases. This feature expands the app's existing receipt-scanning functionality, which already lets users earn cash back by submitting grocery receipts through the Magic Receipts program.

With the new barcode scanning tool, users can scan product barcodes directly in the app to find available cash-back offers and coupons before making a purchase. This eliminates the need to browse through lists of deals manually. The feature works alongside the existing receipt submission system, where users snap a photo of their grocery receipt to claim available coupons and earn SB points.

The update arrives as Swagbucks continues to position itself as a rewards program that pays users for everyday online activities. The app currently offers multiple earning methods: completing surveys, watching videos, searching the web, making purchases through partner stores, and submitting receipts. Users accumulate SB points that can be redeemed for gift cards to major retailers, PayPal cash, or prepaid debit cards.

Swagbucks has also included general bug fixes and performance improvements in this release. The app remains available for free on Google Play. New users receive a $10 Shop Bonus upon signing up.

The barcode scanning addition gives users a faster way to identify earning opportunities while shopping in physical stores. Rather than checking individual product pages or deal categories, users can scan items as they browse store aisles and see available rewards instantly.
