Among the reviews analyzed, Sibley Birds 2nd Edition is highly regarded for its authoritative Sibley illustrations, comprehensive species accounts, audio recordings, and offline field utility, making it a top choice for intermediate to advanced birders. However, a recurring theme was frustration with the search function (requiring hyphens and exact spelling) and the compare feature, which many sampled reviews reported as broken or unreliable, crashing or redirecting rather than showing side-by-side comparisons. Several reviews also noted missing or incorrect range maps and dark plates from the first printing. While some users praised customer support, others experienced crashes and setup issues. The app may fit birders who prioritize reference quality and can tolerate technical quirks, but may not fit those who need a smooth, intuitive identification experience or rely heavily on comparison tools.
